Hebrews was written to Jewish Christians who were in danger of apostatizing due to the rials and temptations that they were experiencing. Sin and ignorance, coupled with persecutions endured by the second generation saints endangered their continuing to walk in the light. Their Jewish countrymen sought to influence the return of the Jewish Christians to the ways of the old covenant. Their resentment of Jesus as being acceptable as the promised Messiah continued. Worldly values exercised their influence as the Christians struggled as an alien whose home is not of this world. The superiority of Christ, the lessons of obedient faith, leave no doubt in the heart of the believer that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and no man can go to the Father except by Him.
