A gift from God

- 01/01/2021

It's no exaggeration to say that Polylon baptismal robes are a gift from God! We have been using the royal blue robes for many years, and they have been such a blessing to our church. Polyon robes allow churches to practice baptism the way it was practiced in the Bible, where people were baptized as an immediate response to their salvation. They didn't have to wait until a more convenient time could be scheduled, and neither should people in your church today. Our baptistry is always warm, and Polylon robes are designed to be provide complete modesty without the need for any underclothing or a bathing suit. The material is completely waterproof so it doesn't become clingy or transparent, and the one-piece culotte design holds the robe in place, and as long as they are cared for properly (no hot water or machine drying - we spray ours with a disinfectant and just let them drip dry after use rather than machine wash), they will stay that way for many years. Too many churches don't care for their robes properly, and as a result they start to lose their waterproof properties and put people's modesty at risk. Get new robes and care for them properly if you have run into this issue, for the sake of those being baptized and those watching the ceremony.

Polylons make baptism a more convenient and comfortable process for all involved. The person being immersed can change quickly before and after the baptism and doesn't have to worry about carrying wet clothes around after. The robes are also very comfortable to wear and take away the fear of a wardrobe malfunction so that the candidate can relax and enjoy the blessings of baptism free of worry about what they will wear. Having that choice made for them is very comforting for most people. For the baptism helpers, preparation and cleanup are a snap. The robes carry almost no water out of the baptistry so there is almost no cleanup. All each candidate needs is a robe, a towel to stand on and dry off on when they exit the baptistry and a towel to dry off with. Polyon robes are a baptism helper's best friend.

One of the things that we like most about Polylon robes is the role they play in keeping pride out of the baptistry, where it has no place. Baptism was designed by God to be a "pride extinguisher," a perfectly appropriate term I borrowed and often use from another pastor. When we are baptized we are humbling ourselves as children and submitting to the authority of God through his church. It isn't something we do, it is something that is done to us. We turn from our sin of pride and put aside our worldly status and humbly submit to being publicly immersed in water. Clothing is a source of human pride that allows people to separate themselves from others. Polylon robes are a simple unisex one-piece garment that were designed for the needs of the church in baptizing people as soon and as conveniently as possible. They are definitely not designed for fashion and are very humbling to wear in front of others for most people. Many people would rather separate themselves and wear street clothes than humble themselves by wearing the silly gown everyone else has to wear. Many churches have increasingly given in to that sin of pride and either don't require people to wear Polylons or have moved away from them altogether because they don't want people to feel humiliated by baptism. Other churches might like the idea of using Polylons but are afraid of offending people's pride and vanity. I would say to all these churches that I have found that requiring people to wear a Polylon robe for their baptism is an act of love, and one that most people actually appreciate in the moment. It allows them to experience the humility that God wants them to experience, in some cases when it wasn't necessarily what they would have asked for themselves. To borrow another phrase from that same preacher, I've seen many different kinds of people in the baptistry in all the years I've been baptizing people, but one thing I've never seen is a proud person. They might be proud before and may be proud after, but there is no way to be proud getting baptized if your church is doing baptism right. For our church and many others, Polylon robes are a crucial part of doing baptism right. I'd encourage every church who wants to get serious about biblical baptism and it being an immediate process like it was in the Bible (This should describe every church), I would strongly urge you to pray about using Polylon robes.
